| It is our last round here at school... Graduation is upon us... but so is the weight of this semester, even though it is only two weeks in. :(

| The summer is coming to a close. I am finished my internship and all of my work online... Nate is still working away, but it is nice having at least one of us a little more flexible. Flexibility means getting to sort through boxes and prepare my internship portfolio and tie down details for our move back to Chicago. We have an apartment! This is thanks to a great friend at my work who was able to visit some places with an agency. oooh the paperwork, what with being full time students and needing to tie down cosigners, etc.
We are so grateful and excited that it is so close to the lakefront and not too far from school or church.
I made eggplant parmesean this week (Tues) and a new vegetable curry last night. Last night's curry was better than my last. We had been using a good from a Jamaican food store back up north but found a little spice stand at a market that had some extra hot and spicy stuff. I figured, in Pennsylvania Dutch land, could hot really mean hot? (Nate and I like spicy...) So two tablespoons of the new curry plus a variety of other spices (including cayenne pepper) resulted in a fiery brew that was really good but unbearable (almost too painful) to eat. Somehow we finished it. Needless to say, last night I used one tbsp of the hot stuff with some of the other kind. Had a nice kick, but not painful.
We watched Born into Brothels twice. The first time without the subtitles because the DVD player was not allowing us to turn them on (the option was not given and I tried several times to figure it out to no avail.). Then we were watching a special feature of the kids watching the movie and providing commentary. The screen that they were watching had English subtitles throughout the movie! ...we watched it again.
may our hearts be broken by the things that break the heart of God and may no "follower of Jesus" stand by idly and passively in excess and comfort while children head into prostitution, while the poor are hungry and cold, while children are kidnapped and converted into killing machines of war.
With what shall I come to the LORD and bow myself before the God on high? Shall I come to Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves? Does the LORD take delight in thousands of rams, in ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

| I just learned the name of a band we have liked for a while, though we have only known one song. They are on an Emmaus Ministries fundraiser cd entitled "redemption". Anyways, I found the case and their name: Aradhna, which means worship. They sing beautiful Indian songs in an Indian language to praise our sweet Lord Jesus. I have been listening to them all morning. :) ...
(this one is kind of funny because it translates into English as "attractive... is the name of Jesus").
Gaao Re

So I realized that those colours were really harsh and I didn't like them. I was kind of just fiddling around with things when I signed up and just picked one. I went back here today and shuddered. So I picked some mellow ones, like some browns and a yellow.
Hey... that's kind of like our wedding colours. Speaking of wedding, we had one! And have been happily married one month as of today. how exciting. Nate said that now we are an old married couple. :)
Here is a picture. Unfortunately, I did not have time to scan many when I scanned this one, so I only scanned one and now the scanner is broken. :( so this will have to do for now because apparently I am the "techie" in this marriage, which doesn't mean much. Because I fiddle and then sometimes it works.
The Lord is quite good to us. My internship (me) and my Moody Online job are going well. Nate is putting in overtime hours doing carpentry. We are enjoying our little home in the woods and had a fun time scaring the swans in our pond with Nate's brothers this past Saturday night.
Sunday school teaching went ok. Only ok. But that is why I have an internship, eh? (nate tells me) It provides for messing up and getting muddled and provides time to get through that. | | |
| in a blog that is for all to see. I find these kind of strange, but a convenient way to exchange thoughts with friends who are not so near.
I myself have read a friend's Xanga and then saw a link of "friends" and wandered where my mouse would take me, in to the worlds of people who I will likely never meet or see. strange.
The name is an ode to Nate, who decided it would be a grand idea to respond to a "How are you?" in such a manner: I am feeling metaphysically aloof.
